I own 5 different Atem models and two Gostream models. My take is, that the Gostream is much more versatile than the smaller Atem Mini’s. The can stream up to three destinations, have 2 HDMI OUT and one USB-C OUT which can be configured. You can record on SD cards or on USB-C stick. You have an onboard media player and you can configure everything on the device without the help of an external computer. The signal delay is minimal and so it’s also a solution if you want to display the signal to an on location screen. The Duet version is even more versatile, as it can also accept SDI inputs and you can mix HDMI and SDI signals (max 4 inputs. And did I mention that you also can reveice 1 NDI source via the AUX bus, but that would then also occupy the media player input. You get a T-bar and also a headphones out, beneath the two audio inputs. They also have a software which you can use to configure and command your Gostream from a computer which is connected to the same network. You can also use Elgato Streamdecks to command your Gostream via bitfocus companion. For this price, there just isn’t any other device which can compete. Not even close.
Is it perfect? For the price, I would say it comes close to pefection. But I would wish that they would come out with a version where I could mix 6 input sources plus AUX. And I would wish it had ISO recording, and yes, I would agree to pay more for that. For the 6 inputs plus ISO recording, I would gladly pay $600.
